How SolRoof Integrates Solar Into the Roof
SolRoof is a steel roofing system in which some of the panels generate electricity. The generating panels are called FIT VOLT. The matching steel panels without cells are called FIT. They're installed together with the flashings, trim and electrical components, so you end up with one roof and no separate array mounted on top of it.

Laying out a roof
A layout decides which panels are which. The faces that get good sun and little shade take FIT VOLT. Shaded areas, cut pieces along valleys and the tight spots around a chimney take FIT. On a simple gable roof that can be most of one side. On a roof with a lot going on, it's less.
How a Canadian project runs
- You send us the project: location, the roof, new build or replacement, and timing.
- We check it against the four things we look at: location, roof, timing and whether we can supply and support it there.
- You receive a layout showing FIT VOLT and FIT areas.
- You receive a quotation, subject to local availability and technical review.
- Permits, electrical inspection and the utility's connection process are followed as your province and municipality require.
- The roof and electrical equipment are installed and inspected.

Is it a roof or a solar system?
Both. FIT VOLT panels and matching FIT steel panels are installed together as one roof.
Do all the panels produce power?
No. Only FIT VOLT panels do. FIT panels complete the roof.
