A Solar Roof System for Design-Led Projects
SolRoof is a steel roof with photovoltaics built into some of its panels. For a design team, it means the generating area and the rest of the roof share the same material and the same lines. It also means the roof and the electrical design have to be developed together, starting early.

The palette
You have two panel types. FIT VOLT generates. FIT doesn't, and is made to match. You place them according to sun, shade and what you want the roof to look like from the street. Flashings, trim and electrical components belong to the same system.
Documentation for Canadian submissions
You'll need documents your authority having jurisdiction accepts, and those requirements differ by province and municipality. Tell us what your submission needs. We'll send what applies and tell you plainly about anything that isn't confirmed for your jurisdiction yet.
What to have ready when we talk
- Project location and the date the roof is scheduled
- Roof plans, and whether the geometry can still change
- Who is doing the roofing and the electrical work
- What your building official and utility ask for
- Whether this is a single building or a repeated type
Developers
If you're planning a number of homes or buildings, send us a typical unit. A repeated roof type is the simplest thing for us to review, and it tells you quickly whether the whole scheme is a candidate.
Questions we get asked
Can I get technical documents now?
Send the project details and what you need. We'll share what applies and say what's still being confirmed for your jurisdiction.
When should I get in touch?
At concept or schematic design.
Are the projects on this site in Canada?
No. They're completed installations in Europe.
