Frequently Asked Questions About Solar Roofing
These are the questions we're asked most by Canadians. Where something depends on your location or hasn't been confirmed for Canada, we say so. If your question isn't here, send it with your project details and we'll answer it directly.
Is SolRoof a roof or a solar system?
Both. FIT VOLT photovoltaic panels and matching FIT steel panels are installed together as one roof.
How is a solar roof different from solar panels?
Solar panels are mounted above an existing roof. A solar roof is the roof covering itself, with solar in some of its panels.
Is it available in my province?
It depends on where the project is and what it involves. Tell us and we'll give you a straight answer.
How does it handle snow and cold?
That's a question for the product's documentation. Ask us for what's available for your location and we'll tell you exactly where it stands.
Can I consider it for a roof replacement?
Yes. A full replacement and a new build are the two situations it's intended for.
Who should be involved early?
The owner, the designer, the roofer and the electrician.
What decides whether my project is suitable?
Location, the roof's shape and orientation, shade, timing, local availability and a technical review.
What technical documents can I get?
Send us your project details and what you need. We'll share what applies and tell you what's still being confirmed for Canada.
What about price, warranty and rebates?
Pricing and warranty terms are provided with a quotation for your project. Rebate and incentive programs differ by province and utility and change often, so check the current program directly.
Who is bringing SolRoof to Canada?
Suns of Liberty is the official North American partner of SOLROOF.
